Shaping the future of oral prevention – myths and truths about chemical plaque control
Dr. Tihana Divnić-Resnik MSc, PhD

Dr. Tihana Divnić-Resnik

Global increase in aging population, retention of dentition and increased rehabilitation with complex implant supported restorations will soon increase demand for prevention and maintenance. Are the “tools and potions” for prevention and maintenance we have so far sufficient to satisfy demands of future patients? Mechanical biofilm control is mainstream in prevention of most common oral diseases; however, chemical biofilm control may be necessary to implement as an adjunct in certain cases.

Interdisciplinary perio health: management of complex perio prosthetic rehabilitations and their follow ups over time
Dr. Alessandro Agnini DDSDr. Andrea Agnini DDS

Dr. Alessandro Agnini, Dr. Andrea Agnini

Complex perio-prosthetic cases that require multidisciplinary therapy often result in compromised aesthetics. Traditional treatment planning philosophies, as well as existing interdisciplinary relational patterns, do not promote the achievement of predictable aesthetic results. Implementation of a restorative-driven approach requires the development of an aesthetic blueprint that will serve as a guide through treatment. This lecture describes a team approach for periodontal and restorative treatment intended to produce a predictable, biologically sound outcome that preserves more supporting bone and restores carious and broken down teeth. The goal of periodontal treatment, when performed in conjunction with restorative dentistry, is to provide restorative dentists with a high percentage of tooth structure that allows for a supragingival margin.

Inaccurate analysis of occlusal overload and its detrimental impact on dental restorations and implants.
Dr. Dani Irani DDS

Dr. Dani Irani

Despite being in the era of digital dentistry with the accuracy it provides, many of us dentists are still highly attached to traditional tools in our daily practice. For occlusal analysis, the most common tool used is articulating paper. The correct physiological recovery of occlusion is always a challenge for every dentist and technician. Proper tools and proper knowledge enable us to overcome one of the most critical phases in dental restoration, increasing the success rate and longevity of the restoration and preventing any future damage.

Adapting treatment to Covid-19 and dental implant
Dr. Patrick Palacci

Dr. Patrick Palacci

With the pandemic, our lives and attitudes changed dramatically. We had to adapt implant treatments to this new situation. Simplification, reliability, less surgical/prothetic appointments, more efficient treatment lead us to consider immediate loading as an alternative to conventional implant treatment. What protocol should be applied in order to fulfill those prerequisites. Resonance frequency analysis is one of the tools we have in our hands in order to optimize this kind of treatments.

Sinus Floor Elevation: Management of Complications
Dr. Özgür Erdogan

Dr. Özgür Erdogan

Sinus floor elevation (SFE) is a well-accepted surgical procedure for the treatment of the atrophic posterior maxillary alveolar bone. The original technique, lateral window SFE, was introduced almost 4 decades ago and it has evolved through years resulting in modified methods such as transcrestal SFE. Although SFE using both lateral window and transcrestal approaches is a predictable surgical procedure with low complication rates and high survival rates, complications and failures are anticipated like as with all kind surgical procedures. This webinar will address common and uncommon intraoperative and postoperative complications associated with SFE and will discuss their management along with preventative measures and treatment strategies.

Clinical concepts and emerging strategies in reconstructive periodontal surgery and periodontal and peri-implant infection control
Prof. Anton Sculean

Prof. Anton Sculean

Reconstructive/regenerative procedures in periodontology aim at rebuilding the periodontal supporting tissues which have been lost following periodontal disease or trauma. Substantial evidence indicates that in carefully selected patients and defects, combined with a strict pre -and postoperative infection control, reconstructive/regenerative periodontal surgery may lead to substantial clinical benefits evidenced by probing depth reduction, clinical attachment level gain, defect fill, thus improving long-term tooth prognosis and survival. Emerging evidence also suggests that the use of certain types of lasers and/or antibacterial photodynamic therapy (a-PDT) may result in reduction of inflammation and improved clinical stability, thus representing potential modalities for maintaining periodontal and peri-implant tissue stability.
